AP English Highlights
  • Advanced Placement English (Dual Enrollment) is designed to challenge students with a rigorous curriculum as well as an advanced pace. Ideally, if a student is successful in AP English, she/he will have no difficulty in a college freshmen course in English.
  • Students work on several projects at the same time and are reading a novel outside of class time while we are working on something else in class during the entire school year.
  • The goal of this course is to help students acquire the ability to read closely, understand the conventions of literary discourse, develop an appreciation of literature, and write accurately and insightfully about what they have read.
  • Students are expected to be responsible for a large part of their own learning.
  • It is my expectation that a student has elected to take this class to prepare him/herself for the AP English test in May.
  • The additional reading required for an AP class requires an advanced reading ability, but more importantly, the desire to do the work.
